Morgan may be almost uniquely placed then .... able to hit both bases at once! 🙂

You may be right, but I think the environmentalist kill joys will remove the driving freedoms we all experienced and appreciate before too long.

As Derek from Mathewsons (Bangers and Cash) says, the older guys who used to buy prewar cars have all died off affecting the value of said cars the same is happening to the buyers of Trads which is why the CX is with us, different demographic.

as i think I may have typed before, one only needs to look at the age of the average bidder buying 60`s to 90`s "classics" to know that there is a process of evolution acting on the market for such vehicles... Also if you observe where they pick up the cars from, widows and folk too old to use them or those perhaps who`s pension pots do not cover their needs.... I suspect one would have to be wearing blinkers to think that which baby boomers viewed as investments will remain so as we loosen our grip on the perch....?

Enjoy what you can and while you can seems to be a reasonable plan..?

I think the Italians were aiming at a different demographic but they didn't have the confidence to put a more adventurous body on the new chassis.
Going with a 'trad look' body limits it's audience to old people again, back to square one, not getting 'new blood' in to the brand.

IF....... there is a massive take up of the 0% offer and they end up delivering loads of cars, cars that will be handed back after 2 years, it would totally destroy the residual price for all CX owners.
A massive flood of cars on to the used market would only force values down, also it would probably kill the market for new cars. Why buy new at £100k + when there are loads of low mileage used cars available.
If it were to happen the dealer network couldn't cope either. There are fewer dealers now, most small scale operations, who could easily do without selling the CX cars as they have enough custom for trad sales and repairs.

Julian, would you care to define old.. and it seems you have an interest in Morgan`s are you also old like me...? (-:

I think my use of the term Baby Boomers perhaps defines my thinking to some degree on the likely effects on the market over time. I can remember back when the MMC were perhaps struggling as a business which may have been as much as 20 years ago, that someone far more business minded than I suggested if the MMC failed to exist, that the value of used Morgans would increase considerably...... That the MMC still survive is great for those employed by them, but I suspect the logic of baby boomer`s priorities alter with time....????

As an old owner in my 70s - 41 years for my one and only 1980 +8. Cost me £6k in 1983. I have no interest in a CX, mine is fine and just love driving it. Currently on 260k miles. But my fear is they will go bust, I don't believe there is a buoyant market for £100k+ new ones regardless of financing options and £65k at 2-3 years. It smacks of desperation.
If I want a modern seriously fast drive then I take out my 911 turbo, admittedly old, but cost far less than a new CX.

There are plenty of people with lots of money that can and will continue to buy Morgan’s. The concept of this offer at current moment is nothing new , it’s been around for years on cars , Plant machinery and motorbikes. It doesn’t smack as desperation at all.
Go to the factory and look at the updates that have been done, new cafe, sales area and showroom , shop update, building work going on at side of service buildings.I’m sure deep down in some perverse way, a lot of people would love Morgan to go bust so they can say I told you so, and moan on even more on this site.

I’m 52, so be 82 in 30 years time. I hope Morgan have a big modern new building to work out of by then. They have ditched the bit of old ash, and the old factory is a selling centre and continuing tourist attraction for factory tours of how it used to be. Keep the progress, new ideas , new shapes , different engines or electrical propulsion ideas coming. Because if they where still making a trad, no youthful middle agers would be buying them.

Remember to take your happy pills tomorrow morning.✌️

The fact is most young people do not buy a car. It is as my late Dad told me once on the never never! My mate has a new tintop and when he went for a new job, he got himself a older car, but keeping the newer car. The reason...due to going over his mileage allowance of his new car. Is it me, but is the world going NUTS!!

Nothing personal Jono, just using your statement...for discussion

Sooo, as we have seen, many CX owners bail out of ownership and despite being brand aware, do they encourage others ?

I probably fall into Jono's quote, BUT when I first bought a Trad I thought it would be a keeper, then I traded up a few times and added another so actually bought 5 Mogs, I've also acted as an amateur ambassador for the brand, several people own Mogs because of my enthusiasm, so MMC should have interest in and value us too
