I confirm what Laurent and Stevio 666 said. The modification is astonishing.

Can the motor mount install be a bolt-in? Looks to require some fab and welding...

Yes, it's bolt-in.

Lock tite ! Believe it or not . On original mirrors . Set them reasonably where you want them . Then lock tite the adjustment ball. Holds and titens them for months .

Can confirm that the alternative engine mount pictured above does dramatically reduce mirror vibration. Previous sitaution - for each mirror, a period of resonance at a specific (differnt) speed rendering it useless. New mounts, new situation just tested on our 3000km trip to the Treffen - vibration free mirrors. Now it is worth looking for a better more convex mirror to deal with the blind spot when carrying baggage....

I've always had problems adjusting the passenger side mirror on my June 2012 car to give a reasonable view of the road behind. A great view of the hedgerow maybe but not necessarily of the road. The reason became clear when I looked at the black plastic offset mount (which MMC apparently refer to as the 'door mirror wedge'). On my car this was cut at 15 degrees which didn't appear to tilt the mirror back far enough.
Therefore, I obtained some 25mm diameter black PVC rod and made replacement spacers with the angle set at 22.5 degrees. No scientific reason for choosing this angle - other than there's a stop there on my chop saw and it 'felt about right'. This obviously tilts the mirror rearwards so that there's more chance of seeing something useful in it.

Postscript: A while ago, I was given a set of M3W mirrors off a later car than mine. When I inspected the corresponding mounts I found they were cut at 20 degrees which is probably fine. I'm not sure when MMC started to fit the increased angle spacers. Maybe with the major revision in 2014?

If anyone's interested, I made a couple of extra sets of the 22.5 degree spacers so PM me and I'll be happy to send them to you for the cost of the postage.

My 2013 car built in December 2012 has the 20 degree spacers.
