"The Meguiars Mirror Glaze says "for professional use only", why is that?"
Mark, you would have to ask Meguiars. Polishing cars is an art. and can easily cause issues, especially with power buffers. This glaze is easy to apply, but for the best results, needs a certain level of experience. I don't use power buffer. I've never had the need, and having done the concours circuit for many years, I developed a technique which can clean a car after 100 plus mile drive, within the 60-90 minutes allowed at an outdoor event. So in some ways I guess I'm a professional polisher anyway!. The Morgan was done in around 30 minutes, and I did my Golf, which took a bit longer because there's more bodywork. maybe around 40 mins.

Many thanks for your reply. Could you recommend an "amateur" polish for a flat green 4/4's slightly tired paintwork!

I strongly agree sewin! It's a great idea and shouldn't be very difficult or expensive to implement Eagerly awaiting Cooperman's reply on the issue... You'll have to give me a couple of days chaps, trying to get the Mini ready for an event on Sunday & then at Blyton Park circuit with the MTW on Monday

Fitted a new Clevis Pin to the clutch pedal today, despite only slight wear and ridging it's surprising how much slop it adds to the travel
I think it's worth an annual check Looks like the image failed to load yesterday ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2026/04/11/clevis-pin---clutch.md.jpg)

Blimy Rich you got your money's worth there! But cooper man is right they do jam. I've found it all depends on how much end float you have in the clevis pin. if there is little to none then you can wear a pin quite extensively but if it can move it'll jam! well until it wears enough of a channel to keep it located that is!

Removed throttle body from Morton for cleaning. Been getting a severe misfiring issue very occasionally. If I persist it throws error P2135 - voltage correlation error between sensors A & B throttle control. Cure I've now found, having previously been through obvious checks, is to simply switch off for three minutes then car will continue as if nothing happened until same issue again which could be a matter of weeks or months. I've investigated and found the accelerator sensor operates a pair of rheostats wired to increase and reduce voltage equally from a base voltage when pedal pressed. This signal drives a throttle plate stepper motor accordingly. This also has a pair of rheostat position sensors working similarly for correlation. This will relate similarly to other Morgans with DBW throttles. Thoughts were that issue may be sticking plate so removed body completely this time. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.ibb.co/hxqtDWm1/IMG-20260412-133050.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://i.ibb.co/Lz3n3dMf/IMG-20260412-133107.jpg) Inlet side clean frim previous check but back side had a layer of carbon which got thoroughly washed away with dedicated cleaner. Noted the throttle plate return spring is quite strong as well. Fingers crossed its a cure as new body expensive and second hand ones from Lithuania all look a bit crusty. FWIW part number for 3.7 V6 Roadster is Ford AT4E-9F991-EL

I am full of admiration for your technical abilities Richard. Having read of your thinking re your intermittent throttle cable issue, causes me to be ever more grateful for the simplicity of my old Mogs throttle cable, and the likely cost of replacement. Hope your pot cleaning sees an end to the issue....

Well like it or not George it seems most other newish drive by wire cars work in this established fashion. I believe with commercial aircraft the FBW system uses three channels for extra redundancy, with a correlation of two being accepted in an emergency. I haven't cleaned the pots BTW just the throttle plate and its pivots. Needless to say OBDII monitoring always shows accelerator and throttle body playing nicely with ignition on engine off, but I can't be looking at the dials whilst driving. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.ibb.co/zhMjKR84/Screenshot-2026-04-08-15-17-30-716-org-prowl-torque.jpg)

Richard, was well used to fault finding on digital systems. Yup it is so much quicker and simpler to scan a selection of needles than to take time to read digits and assess the situation each instrument might be relaying.. I likewise rarely look at dials while driving. only occasionally reading one or perhaps two to confirm all is well, generally oil pressure and water temp, less likely to look at voltage unless I have concerns... No argument rom me in terms of the digital advances in technology and the advantages made possible, increasing the ease of use and convenience factor of doing so.... it is when things go wrong and even the "experts" seem unable to resolve what can be the most simple of causes, and at great expense, that my Luddite tendencies cause me to twitch somewhat...(-:
