Michael, have a look under the dash near the glove box, there may be a 12v socket there.

My '86 4/4 didn't have one, I bought an auxy socket from Maplin and an in line fuse. Mounted the socket in the upright between and behind the two seats and wired straight to the battery via the fuse. Worked OK.
My 2002 4/4 has a socket in the glove compartment.

If your car is new(ish) then there should be one fitted. Mine is in the glove box (on the right-hand side)

Being a 2010 model I am almost certain that you will find a lighter socket under the right hand side of the glovebox facing down towards the floor. It will have a flip off plastic cover that is held on one side.

Finding a place to mount the sat nav is another story (there is a thread on this topic). If you have the walnut dash the surface is probably smooth enough and shiney enough that you can stick it onto the dash up high between the glovebox and the instrument panel. That is where we put ours.

On my 2006 4/4 anniversary the socket is behind the dashboard near the dimmer for instrument panel.

Keep mogging,
