I note that B&C Restoration this coming Thursday features a Morgan restoration. Following last week’s edition where the chosen vehicle was a Mercedes S class which, after purchase was sent to a specialist to be sympathetically restored……..but this was not to be as it was an absolute rot box and fit only for scrap. It shows the Mathewson family are full of Bull s**t as they stated at the beginning of the programme that it needs little work and a new front bumper to be superb! Their knowledge of classic cars leaves a bit to be desired and they are only interested in financial gain. You would think that they would have at least looked underneath the car and advised otherwise. The Merc was purchased at over £4K including buyer’s commission and then was put back into auction with the true condition specified and it went for £2K including sellers commission. It’s a win win for the Mathewsons. How many others have had the wool pulled over their eyes with their so called knowledge?
Did anyone spot the loose sidelight on top of the n/s wing near the end of the programme with the new owner driving it. As you probably gather, I am not an avid fan of the Mathewsons. The vehicles interest me only, but all of their verbal diarrhoea just goes over my head.
I was up at Kevin Vernon's one day when he had a DB5 in for some work, he said the same thing, he was most unimpressed with its driving qualities. Good looking though.
You're not wrong there! There's nothing that screams 'poorly maintained' more than a shabby engine bay. That car could turn into a total money pit were one to attempt a proper restoration/recommissioning.
