Epic Euro excursion

The Italian 🇮🇹 trip has begun. The drive to Newcastle to catch the overnight ferry was quite pleasant. The DFDS service is absolutely superb, what a pleasure, all immaculate and a comfortable cabin. the buffet meal and breakfast had endless choice and dozens of attentive staff.
It’s been a long drive from Amsterdam to our next stop here in Munich, top speed on the autobahn was 170mph but petrol disappears fast at that speed and I paid a whopping 2.54euro per litre for the premium stuff on the motorway so probably not worth the time saving.

Needless to say it was a very impressive set up, the sports cars are built in the original building and the urus SUV in a far larger new facility behind. For the sports cars, its still very much hand assembled but with high tech system and procedures to ensure consistency and quality. There’s a huge work force the majority of whom are young Italians. We also visited the museum to see the classic and rare models then followed this with an amazing lunch is a traditional Lombardy restaurant in the countryside, we ate and drank too much so now I’m back at our house and i’m going to sleep in the afternoon sun 🌞 Don’t worry, I didn’t drive today my host picked us up fed us and returned us safely to our terrace where stay till I sober up😂

We are in Tuscany at the moment, bad weather on our way to here but with beautiful sun and snow in Austria. Now beautiful weather, the roads are as bad as always, but the PlusFour handles them better and with more comfort than our old 4/4! OP Ewan miles of smiles Talk Morgan Expert Joined: Apr 2016 Posts: 2,519 Likes: 320 NE Scotland	I’d say the CX cars would be perfect for this area, the roads aren’t as bad as they look, I’ve got used to them now, once you speed up, the bumps disappear 😂I even like the driving style, pretty much do whatever you want, no need to apologise, they expect you to charge on. Every time I’ve been on holiday in a warm place I’ve always be envious of those with open top cars, dragging that Ferrari all the way here will have cost a pretty penny in fuel and depreciation but it’s worth every penny, wear and tear will be the next guy’s problem. Certainly enjoyed it more than a cruise with sweaty bus tours. Today is our last day in the region, we’re in Reggio Emilia, our nearest large town, soaking up the sun, tomorrow we head to lake Commo.

Enjoy the ride and the trip up North, and have a nice follow up excursion. Next Saturday we plan to drive to lake Como too, and then via Swiss, France - "the Vosges" - back to the Netherlands! OP Ewan miles of smiles Talk Morgan Expert Joined: Apr 2016 Posts: 2,519 Likes: 320 NE Scotland	Here’s some of the cars in the Lamborghini museum yesterday, we saw the new V12 Revuelto 1000hp hybrid being built, these seem to cost £500k and there were loads of them, none I could take a picture of though. The new ones were at least half the production in Matt finish weird and wonderful colours, looks good in Italy, not so much in the UK.

I regret not taking pictures of some of the people we’ve met, this couple on the BMW were no more than a casual hello but just look at them, happiness personified!

If you are stil in the area and have not yet done so you should try to visit the "Maserati Museum". Virtually the entire Maserati collection was purchased by Umberto Panini when De Tomaso wanted to sell it off. https://www.paninimotormuseum.it/ A good chance to buy some excellent Parmesan cheese too Peter

I’ll see how we are for time but that would be heading in the wrong direction today, we’re about four hours to Lake Como and we’ve only one night there so we want to make the best of the short visit. It’s a national holiday here today, no body works and most things will be closed, roads could be hectic 🇮🇹
