So what's occurring here?
How can a B go back on the road? It simply cannot be a B. It must have had its nomenclature moved to C.
How/why/when and by who that this became fact is the question.
The car WAS repairable but the original owner demanded a new 'Max. Fair enough. So would I.
BUT, this car was not dead. It was not mangled at high speed. It was certainly in a condition to be repaired. Thus it was. Someone obviously decreed it be broken as a B which would have been a travesty.
What I find utterly amusing is all this VOSA ABCD malarky.
This 'Max I think is ten times better than say a 2.7RS. An RS that was smashed to pieces in perhaps '75 in a pile up. No lists then. Bought out of salvage and repaired. Then raced as a cheaper way into a clubmans weekend track car.
Then heavily thrashed, bumped, butchered, altered over the years plus heavily welded through rot in latter years.
Still not on any list.
Discovered in a damp East London lockup in bits and bodged to get an MOT in the early 80's
Sold to a muppet who liked a shiny 2.7RS. Parked outside a nightclub.
Then stolen, thrashed and stripped! Engine/Box/Fuschs/Seats gone...
Remains bought again off salvage
Still not on any list...
Fully rebuilt by an enthusiast correctly over the 90's with all NOS parts to concours level.
Now it's a really stunning RHD 2.7RS with half a new shell. Different engine etc etc etc.
It's all fecking big con this ABCD!! (in my opinion).
Yes it gets Ford Focus's off the road but there's plenty of dodgy classics out there and I think this 'Max whilst technically a wrong'n deserved to live.
It's card's marked. It will prob go to OZ and reg'd clean as a whistle. But everyone will always know it's had one!
