Start very fine. The trick is to get a hole started, then you can go bigger, but protect the paint first.
Don't generate too much heat - nice and easy. The metal is quite soft so once you're in, it will drill well. Bear in mind that the stud may not be in square. Mine was angled down slightly.
Easter is right, a dentist could breeze this job.
