I feel uncomfortable with the way you 'moderate' people who express views you are uncomfortable with.
I do not believe Phil was moderating you but trying to avoid the same discussion that many of the threads about MMC seem to descend into: i.e. talk of financials and mistakes made.
Rod, there are only 3 people on this site who have the 'authority' to "moderate" people: myself, Brian and Andy. And, as I have said previously, this 'authority' is only ever used in extreme circumstances (slander, personal attacks, profanity) and even then, the poster is informed why their post has been moderated. In these cases, they will receive a warning so that there is no ambiguity in why their post was deleted or amended.
So, in my opinion, there is no reason for anyone to moderate their own post! As I have maintained from the start, if the discussion is getting heated and you wonder whether you should post what you are about to say, ask yourself a simple question: if this person was standing in the same room as myself, would I still say what I am about to post on the forum?
We’re all adults and, hopefully, sensible enough to have a conversation without offending each other with our opinions. After all, what we say is just that: an opinion.
Yes, we get passionate about the topic - after all, why would we spend time on a site dedicated to Morgan cars if we weren't passionate about them? However, if we keep in mind we all share that enthusiasm, perhaps we'll be slower to take offense.

(and please don't censor yourselves; I'll be quick to do it for you if need be!
