Having been away from TM for a few days, I have just been reading the last few pages of this thread.
I re-checked the bonnet/wing gap on my 4/4, which is consistent and even on both sides. It is also just big enough to take my finger tips, without pinching them when closing the bonnet.
However I was at Berrybrook today, admiring a very nice new green +4, (which seemed to have a well fitted bonnet, with even gaps). What, however I failed to notice, was that the gap was somewhat less than on my 4/4 - result = squashed finger tips
As for the North/South divide, as I live within a 10 minute walk of the beach down here in Devon, virtually all my friends could therefore be classed (by me) as "from the north"
