S4 is a better car to drive than an S2 (and probably S3) - better weight distribution, lower CoG, feels more solid, better hood mechanism and sealing etc.
However - it costs more, and an S3 is a fantastic car for a good price potentially.
You pays your money and takes your choice. Test the cars and you'll know what you prefer and want.
