Interesting comment I picked up from the Mini2 forum (I have an early BMW Cooper S)

"but remember not to over-oil the filter as it can affect / ruin the MAF sensor"

Never thought of that but certainly worth remembering.

I regularly clean mine as part of annual service and certainly makes a difference. (I use aerosol switch cleaner from Maplins - CAREFULLY!)
