I have read several articles lately on the cut off switch behind the drivers seat being sensitive to position and being under designed. My 94 4/4 used to suddenly cut out. The lights clock etc worked but not the engine. At the time I though it was the chipped ECU chip but now reading this I am not so sure.
Might be worth checking
