We are considering a new or newish 2014 M3W. Been for a drive with the nice people down here at Truro, loved it (who wouldnt). However, maybe my heart and enthusiasm was ruling my head. I have read most of the posts on this site concerning the M3W and, oh dear. So my question is, (to those that bought the updated 2014 version). Have you had the same problems? have you regretted your purchase of the Morgan?
If youve had a problem free and wonderful experience it would be helpful to hear from you too.
Many thanks from the Cornish Borderlands
Welcome to Talk Morgan!
We have a 2014 version and took delivery in April this year. To date, we have some 3500 miles under our wheels from trips in this country and abroad.
I have experienced frustrations with poor communications in the three way relationship between owner and factory/dealer, all of which ultimately ended entirely happily.
Mechanically, only a final drive bearing and a front engine pulley oil seal. Both have been fixed in a satisfactory manner. Until recently I was under the impression that I had a rear crankshaft oil seal replaced, but investigations showed that this may have been effected by some very good cleaning up..
Personally, we have never ever paid that much money for a car. We're not affluent and the car was part funded by the estate of my wifes father, meaning that there was & still is, a lot of emotion invested in what Morgan market as a unique vision.
My issues with the car are more to do with being let down by the realities of ownership, as the mismatching of expectations between factory and ownership are vast & is often why people write on here with such passion.
There is no doubt the car was under developed from the start, and equally I doubt that the 2014 version is the pinnacle of the cars development. What it IS however, is the best to date.
It is a unique animal in a world of blandness, and a talking point par excellence. It isn't a race car, it isn't a car for the daily commute but it will do everything in it's own inimitable style. It will make you smile & it will make you cry. It will open conversations with strangers that may change your life, but most of all it will ultimately become living history.
Grab it before it's gone.
