We had two Latin texts, one was called "Civis Romanus" which contained reading comprehension stuff, the other was called "Mentor" and was devoted to teaching the grammar.

Not for nothing was the title of the latter changed to read "Torment" by every schoolboy who had to suffer its delights...

Fortunately I was able to abandon my Latin studies in favour of science subjects after the age of 13.
