E-Types were appreciating even in the 1970's. I bought a 1970 white series 2 drophead 4.2 in 1974 for, if I remember rightly, £1,800. Even though only a few years old I had to get the sills replaced. A switch to Koni shocks was a great improvement but the brakes were rubbish -- especially in the wet. Went to Zurich in it in an epic drive and the west coast of Ireland twice. Sold it in 1978 for, I think, £5k.
