This thread reminds me of something the comedian Dylan Moran said -
" It happens to us all sooner or later. A bunch of blokes meet up at the same bar every Friday for an evening of mild intoxication and frivolity. Then one Friday one amongst them is unusually quiet. 'What is up with you mate?' you ask.
He explains he has met a girl and his life has changed. He can't live without her, he realises his whole life has led up to this moment and will be incomplete if he can't be with her forever more. Never has he wanted or needed anything so badly'.
You may hear a group of women having a similar conversation, but do not be mistaken - they are discussing shoes."
