I'd go with what your instinct tells you.... if you love the look of the traditional hood, go for it.
There's a pal of mine who's bought more Morgans than I'll ever do and he's gone back to the old style hood. Just prefers the look. A 4/4 with the hood entirely removed is a pretty thing.
Same as your pal Neil, I've gone back to the old style hood, but in mohair!
You can't beat it for looks, up or down, but to my mind it's definitely not as convenient.
