Agree about the towel! BTW have had my hood up once during the last year... And that was only to see what it was like!
Nearly two years with this latest car and I have never put the hood up. The closest I got was to make sure it was on top of luggage under the tonneau, rather than under it so It could be deployed if required. AS RobMog88 and Spanner Juggler will tell you, I didn't bother with it when we came to leave Barmouth last Thursday morning - was only light mizzle...
