I hope you don't leave the forum, but I can't help thinking that you might be wearing rose-tinted spectacles here. Peter made an awful lot of statements about the way he saw Morgans, and principle amongst them were that he saw owner involvement as a key part of the experience (in other words he expected owners to do an awful lot of maintenance work).
There is no doubt that objectively the products coming out of Pickersleigh Road these days are orders of magnitude better built and more durable than anything that came out under PM's tenure.
To paraphrase John Worrall in his book on restoring Morgans back in 2003, "Nobody would be cruel enough to restore a Morgan to the condition it left the factory"
