I am shocked and saddened at what has happened today in Brussels. I have no doubt the stories of heroism and bravery of those involved, especially those tending the dying and injured, will come out as time passes, and I will be the first to doff my cap to them.

Sadly, it is virtually impossible to secure every single location in the world from this type of attack and atrocity, especially if we wish to exercise our right to freedom, and today's events could have happened just as easily in any one of our own towns and cities. There but for the grace.....

So my thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Belgium and all those who have suffered as a result of this mindless attack.

Two weeks ago yesterday I was in the same airport, flying home from the Antwerp Classic Car Show so might consider this to be a 'near miss'....just like the one I had in The Mulberry Pub in Birmingham in November 1974....drinking there the day before it was blown up!
