As we have less than 1% of the world's population, it could be argued that we're producing at least twice as much emissions as we should be.
Take into account that our economy is very technologically advanced, and that we are a very rich nation, it seems reasonable that we should be able to leverage our ability to be more efficient than the average and produce a good deal less than 1% of global emissions.
