I'm guessing it was so you didn't see shiny aluminum when you looked at the gap between seat uppers and seat belts. A wasted effort to cover up the kit car look.

Noticed the steering wheel as well but guessed it was because steering was locked over. Didn't look bad on mine in that position so will get around to moving it 180°.
