The PO fitted a Cetek umbilical to my Roadster which exits the rear axle-well behind the passenger seat near the spring hanger, and lies under the carpet when not connected. Unfortunately the Cetek charger didn't come with the car, but I already had a battery management unit in stock, so all I had to do was make up a male plug to fit the female plug on the car.
It's been on a week, as I speak, and the compensating light is off, so it's fully charged.
I used to charge the MGB through the ciggy lighter, but agree with Graham - take care because it's a slack fit, and can easily blow the fuse.
PS - long winter lay ups with the MG, used to result in evaporation of the electrolyte, which fell noticeably, showing the tops of the plates in the end cells, so I checked it every month or so through the winter. I topped it up from the de-humidifier............
