Check out this tool for removing spinners.

It is expensive but it works very well with a long breaker bar and much more convenient if you have to remove a spinner at the roadside. Also it is a much less daunting prospect to remove a spinner with this, I knew I was bound to hit the wheel arch sooner or later.
