The whole cherished plate business is fascinating. There are those who want their initials or name on a plate and will seemingly pay a vast amount of money, even though they may not be relevant to anyone else, and therefore have a very limited resale market, those, like me who just like a plate that is non dating and short enough to remember, a problem many of us are finding as we become older, and people who are willing to pay a lot for one that may increase in value, and those who wouldn't be seen dead with a 'vanity' plate.
