I like the fact that it is an old Exeter plate (from a 1958 A35)
Easy to remember, but otherwise meaningless.

Yes, very classy. To my mind the 3 letters / 3 numbers combo is definitely the way to go.
In this day and age I really can't see why you can't buy whatever combination you want from DVLA, so long as it hasn't already been issued or spells out something offensive. It could be a good money earner for the government too.
