Has all the hallmarks of an opportunistic attempt to make a lot of money out of Morgan's misfortune. Ie. Give us a nice payout, a holiday for the family all expenses paid at Hadrian's Wall, and we will shut up.

As for the Aero. The propeller shaft or "prop" shaft is the shaft that connects the gearbox to the differential, it is the fore and aft shaft and it is extremely unlikely that that would drop off and be the cause of such an accident. The shafts connecting the differential to the wheels are called drive shafts or alternatively axles. In an independent rear suspension they have universal joints at each end. I suppose a faulty casting in one of those or some assembly problem could cause a failure. I would also imagine that a limited slip diff is used in the Aero.

I have no idea what would happen in the case of a catastrophic failure but I can imagine a scenario where one wheel locks up because of a broken drive shaft flaying around and 100% of the drive goes to the other wheel. This would steer the car straight off the road as quick as a wink and this seems to be what has happened.

May have nothing to do with Morgan per se but be down to the supply of a faulty or miss-assembled component from one of their suppliers.
