Interesting. The light on my 2004 roadster comes on more frequently now. After cancelling it a few times i took it to Allon Whites as the glowing light starts to get tedious.
They changed the MAF sensor (ordered in from USA) as it was cracked and discussed the problem with MMC.
The story is that the roadster model is showing this fault more and more as it ages. Current factory thinking is that the ecu becomes too sensitive to delayed signals linked to the general worn condition and dirtiness of the components. Assuming that all potential air leaks have been sorted out the approach is to take the ecu and increase the range parameters a bit to give the signals a chance.ie decrease the minimum and increase the maximum.. The ecu has to go back to the factory, for this operation, allow two weeks?
It will be interesting to see if others have the problem, to build up a body of data.
I am going to see if the MAF sensor gives an improvement, but in any case i will wait until MOT time (September) before i decide to do anything more drastic than switching the light off.
In the meantime car runs like a train, no complaints.
