Button. I am sure you are aware that a similar kit is available for race cars. There are two differences with the kit used for race cars (other than the dampers, that is). The race kit has a selection of springs so that it can be tuned to the driver's requirements and different track conditions. The lowest rate of the race kit selection of springs is higher than the standard road kit springs. The race kit also uses a set of 1mm hard nylon shims to set the the ride height. From the lowest ride height (with all the shims under the stub axle) the ride height can be raised in 1mm increments by moving the shims above the axle. It is important for the functioning of the small rate riser spring that the total of shims, or spacers, adds up to 20mm. I currently have 10mm under and 10mm over the stub axle thereby lowering the front end by 10mm but I have changed the tyres to a tyre that is 10mm higher, in this way I have kept the same ride height.

Anyway, after all this, my feeling is that with the combination of the heavier engine of the Plus 8 and your driving style you may find that you would gain sharper steering and less body roll in cornering with upper front springs that are a higher rate. Perhaps the lowest rate springs from the race kit. I don't know what a set of springs would cost but I don't believe that they would be expensive. You would loose a fraction of the comfort but to go up only one grade is not really noticeable as I have found going up a little with the rear springs of my Plus 4.
