I did enjoy the Senna piece. I met him many years ago and still feel sad when I remember watching the TV feed on that dark day.
I just have to question why that was on Top Gear ? They don't usually run adverts for forthcoming films on the program do they ? Perhaps I am a little harsh but they are presented as the "big thing" and so have to live up to that for me.
For me it is not bad TV just not good "Top Gear" as it moves away from interesting stuff and into self serving stuff that is less and less relevant to our lives. The speed run by captain slow was formulaic. The star section was the most interesting for ages but that is the issue, most of the others were "insert name here" repeat format. I did love seeing Rubens who is a wonderful man as ever. But you could cut that section out and you would never know which series it was from, where is the development.
The most interesting thing they have done in ages for me remains the motorbike trip in Vietnam. That has a rich ingredients list. The photography, new information, real spontaneity in the coverage. That is leading edge which is where I would like to see the Beeb go with Top Gear.
Maybe I am being a little harsh but I just don't find myself making the time to watch it live anymore. Now it is one of many I Sky+ so I can flip through the tedious bits.

I agree with every bit of that, the "not bad tv just not good Top Gear tv", the Rubens bit, the repetitiveness and predictability, the Vietnam bit
and the Sky+. I even concur on entering 'Grumpydom'
But the Senna bit was pure magic mixed with a tinge of sadness and nostalgia. But it has answered a question for me. For ages now I've been wondering why I no longer enjoy F1 when in my yoof I wouldn't miss a minute and would religiously wake up at 3am to watch the Australian GP. I now know
