I have had the same with Appliancesonline but good dealings with AO.com over the holidays so my sympathies to you. Good on you for chasing the emails of the bosses out and bringing them into it. I would be keen to hear if you ever get a response from them. I got a shoddy treatment moment at Dixons/PCTurd LHR T5 sometime back and did the same only to get no response at all.
Another good complaint mechanism is Resolver.co.uk but smaller (but more annoying) errors like this can be the most frustrating.

Unit arrives faulty after paying for it to be plugged and plumbed in.
They say engineer will arrive
He does four days later
He pronounces it failed and tells us to contact our retailer to replace.
They say a week for collection and must be in same packaging.
Has anyone ever been able to remove and then replace the packing after that long I ask, No they answer.
So I decide to vote with wallet and claim DOA and return for refund.
Order from AO.com and replacement arrives two days later working fine.
Literally ditto on the cooker. Don't know why I even used them (they used to be my customer in the previous company is the answer)
