Have a chat with Raphael, atalante83 on TM. He has an M3W and an Anniversary 4/4 that were both originally registered outside of France. I think that if you have a copy of the Certificate of Conformity (CoC) it should not be a problem.

PS. If you are keeping the M3W in France be careful that you don't run into legal problems with insurance etc. If the local plod gets to know you may have problems, particularly post Brexit where we still have no idea what rules will apply.
