The heat control on my car comes from a flap which varies the amount of air passing over the heater core, its position controlled by the dash knob, air flow can be boosted by using the fan. there is no ambient fresh air provision for the footwells its always warmed by the heater, Not good on long trips in this weather.
I think my only solution for summer running may be to just by pass the heater core.
