Worth checking the ball is free with a scriber or the like so grease can pass. You need to hit the nipple directly square on , any deflection and the grease will escape and take the line of least resistance.
Best advice i was ever given was to push a pin or scribe into the ballbearing before applying the gun, saves all that grease going everywhere.
