You have to re-apply for you driving licence when you reach 70 years-of-age. You have to surrender your paper licence.
However I understand it is increasingly more difficult to hire a car when you reach a certain age. Have any TMers had any problems?

Most of the multinational companies have no age limit to drive a car BUT they do expect you to be fit to drive, and they may charge an "additional fee" for "extra insurance"
The smaller regional/national companies are rather more picky and although I have not personally found too many issues yet, it does look like it is something that is going to be more tricky as anno domini marches on.
Where I have really big problems is hiring vans. I take a large panel van to Slovenia each year for a kayaking trip, and this year I have only found one local company who will accept me as a septuagenerian driver. Even the large multinationals appear to draw the line at 70
