My engine died due to a disintegrated timing belt at 11,174 miles on the odometer. The belt housing was loaded with fibers. Perfect time to do the pulley upgrade. I used an 11/16" combination wrench on the tensioner and tied a small line from the box end to the starboard headlight mount to hold the tension off while changing the belt. I tried to use a jack, but the wrench kept slipping off. Found a IP45 Torx Plus impact wrench for cheaper than a non impact bit, handy. Getting the timing belt aligned was quite a fiddly task requiring multiple restarts before getting it right. I had some nails that measured 3/16" that I cut for dowels for indexing the pulleys. I slacked off the rear intake valve rocker arm to ease positioning the intake (center) pulley. Retorqued to 30 ft-lb when finished. I relied on the witness marks on the belt and the dots on the timing pulleys. I transferred the original washers from under the belt cover screw heads to the new, longer screws in the spacer kit. I hope the air gap will help the new timing belt live longer than the original.
