Another option is to copy the current fuel distribution from refinery to petrol stations. Distribute hydrogen in the same way. That infrastructure works pretty well.
So, create hydrogen production plants and have gas sent out by tanker and linger term pipeline.
A pipeline exists for gas from Milford Haven handling 30%+ of UK volume. Surely far easier than developing a new electricity system .
