Filling time for hydrogen cars is about 6 minute, only a fraction longer than petrol. This is where the technology will be a winner.

Hydrogen generating stations could be powered by wind, tides, or other green energy and could develop a very valid method of storing energy. The difficulty with many green electric energy systems is that they can generate power at times when it is not needed. For example instead of putting wind turbines on standby the energy could be used to generate hydrogen.
