Yes he mills a slice off the low side and welds an aluminium plate in the hole. The sump plug is repositioned. It's a nice job, and he did one for me using a Mondeo sump to have as a spare. But it only gains a few cm - I think five is quoted, and really it's not enough. We saw what can be done at Superform. It just needs a redesign so that the sump is belled but shallower. It would also need the oil pick up to be shortened slightly, and to be honest, the Getrag box could do with losing a few cm from the bellhousung. Then the lowest point would be the gearbox crossmember.
If I had limitless wealth I'd commission it myself...........
