There is really nothing to measure from as a zero point and if you can measure with a laser pointer of some sort or just get it right once and then put in reference marks you would be way ahead of this game of belt chasing.

To make the entire exercise worse everything on the Morgan, especially the rear wheel alignment, is like dealing with a bad prostate. All the parts are so buried inside the beast that messing with it can be downright painful. Skinned knuckles, bumped head, bruised elbows and even throwing your back out because of the positions required to work under there. If you can do it all from the top by removing the boot tray then you are one step ahead. If you spin the rear wheel to align the belt, which I would recommend, then you will have to jack up the rear to get the wheel off the ground.
