This is as much as I know

When the Plus Six was first launched, MMC intended the that the next 4 cylinder model on the new chassis was going to be called the 4/4 because the Plus4 on the trad chassis, being a good seller was going to continue as bit longer and the 4/4 had a non compliant engine for Euro markets

However I believe the decision was made to end the trad chassis models early due to the great reviews and order intake of the Plus Six and also to streamline manufacture

This then allowed for this new model launched today to be branded the new Plus 4 which is more I’m keeping with its power

The 4/4 is now dormant and I suspect it’s reintroduction will depend on how well the Plus4 sells and whether the pricing differential will warrant a lower powered entry model on the new chassis

I would also guess that MMC need to recoup their development costs on the new chassis models before they can really create another meaningful price differential to sit under the new Plus4
