Tool Wise: A sharp knife preferably a scalpel type, small possidrive screw driver, something like a hole punch and hammer to remove the screw ring, rag to clean the area before removing (stop dirt getting into tank), printed copy of replacing instructions along with normal M3W tools and a big smile.
True, the pump can be changed at the side of the road and you can drive around with all the spares and tools required to do the job but I can assure you, like a lot of M3W jobs, it's much easier to do it in your garage. It's not too tricky to change (unless the lock ring is corroded) and the standard pump is not known for its reliability, most of the Land Rover Discovery owners found that out many years ago as well.
