Thanks Calum. It is LEFT TO LOOSEN isn't it? Nothing in the manuals says which direct to turn, only remove or replace.

DECENT SOCKET must be the trick. I tried an old Snap-On 3/8 drive and broke it across the drive square! I just ordered a 1/2" drive impact socket and we will see how that goes. I suspect some heat to the bolt first could not hurt since I am replacing the seal anyway.
