it used to be that People 'Take Offence' whether or not any is given, and therefore make it their problem. The next step is usually to spread their misery around by justifying their position and blaming others. What is unusual about the current complaint is that the events happened a couple of centuries ago and the people responsible are not here to answer for it.
Everyone is faulty in some way and if we were to dig deep enough those flaws can be exposed and a legacy wiped out - for example; the (until recently) saintly Aung San Suu Kyi. In modern times we have human trafficking a vast scale, slavery is rife in western Europe, people are exploited on an industrial scale in most countries in the developing world and national Governments murder their own citizens. All of this is happening today. What should be the priority?
Spot on, they can't see the glass in front of their faces they are too self oriented to view the bigger picture, it's where we are right now and it's sad certainly the nadir society wise in my lifetime.
This does not apply on a local level we are fortunate enough to live within a very caring and sharing community but of course made up for the most part by senior members but even the youngsters here have learnt those caring skills well which gives me hope.
