Not the first, and certainly not the last. When I was at school, my history lessons were some old bloke reading his notes out of a book, which we had to copy into our books and regurgitate to pass the exam.
Thankfully, the requirements of the History curriculum these days are far more interesting. And there will always be those that study History off their own backs cos they think it's important
