I am no real expert on anything, though I seem to remember aspects of this conversation first appearing on eMog many years ago and if my dull memory serves, in one discussion it was determined that a brand of adjustable shocker/damper (Spax ?) found it`s self forced to act as a bump stop even once, its adjustable function would no longer operate..?

It seems that it may not be unusual for Trad Morgan suspension travel to come to a jarring halt and that on occasion may be the result of sagging springs and if that may be the case then replacement springs would seem to be required to restore lost suspension travel..?

I suspect fitting spring assisters may provide a work around of sorts if suspension travel reduction has created a more regular jarring ride, and as ever it seems Morganeers may be inclined to have their own ideas on modifications to resolve the issue that seems may affect a few Morgans..

If even with correct spec springs shockers of shorter than correctly specified fully compressed length are fitted, and as such are forced to act as bump stops this may create unintended issues and thus caused me to ask the questions repeated below.

Should there be any misunderstanding of the description of my use of the word "jarring," then if you care to beam up the vid below and jump in at circa 7:20 you may find an example... Who was it said an image is worth a thousand words..? Now whether just for effect in the making of the vid they had driven around to find a particularly deep pot hole, and had practised some acting skills to give the impression of shock immediately after encountering the road imperfection... I know not, but it definitely came across as a not fun event..?

The idea that a shocker fitted to a Trad might also act as a bump stop seems far less than ideal. I can understand that there may have been quality issues relative to leaf springs ageing "prematurely" and thus exacerbating the already minimal suspension travel in a Trad, perhaps even more so in Trads with tubular shockers than the original design concept that utilised lever arms..? If the aforementioned might be the case, that would cause me to wonder if lever arms ever suffered the similar situation of them becoming involuntary bump stops...?

I understand that many tubular damper suspension designs have bump stops built in. Trying not to come across as pedantic, I was enquiring if any tubular shocker fitted by MMC in a Trad was designed to also perform as a bump stop..?

My question can be taken a stage further to ask if any shocker manufacturer (AVO ?) has intended their shocker design to be used in a Trad Morgan to also perform a bump stop function...?
