Before you start trying to start it after such a long lay up, just get some lubrication down the bores first

A bit of diesel will do but if you don't fancy that you could use some light oil.

The idea is to lubricate the bores prior to start up and prevent piston ring breakage or wear

Pull it round on a spanner a couple of turns just to make sure everything is free.

Pop the plugs out, disconnect the coil and spin the engine over on the starter until the oil pressure guage registers pressure
