I would be very surprised if they can't take some sort of BMW solution.

The electric motor in the Mini E for example has been engineered so it fits in a cradle which uses exactly the same mounting and pickup points for the ICE cars, and the battery packs run down the exhaust/transmission tunnel and out underneath the rear seats in a T shape.

I'm sure they could do something similar with a CX chassis, I'd be amazed if they didn't think of it from day 1 of design, it's not like they didn't know EV was going to be a thing.
