I suppose that's the theory. I feel it is pretty dodgy to put production expectations on an unseen item. Even Apple does not do that; it is something like “futures” in the stock market.
Please learn from the example of the long-awaited / stillborn TVR Griffith. If like me you had been tempted by the prototype (in my case, at the Beaulieu Supercars Weekend in 2018), we'd still be waiting. IMHO keep your wallet closed for now.
And "Futures" is actually a different animal altogether, whereby broadly speaking you (aka institutional investors in the main) are gambling on whether (typically a commodity) will increase or decrease in value in a given timeframe.
